Newtown Crash

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, often referred to as the Newtown shooting, remains a horrific and defining tragedy in American history. On December 14, 2012, a 20-year-old gunman, Adam Lanza, committed one of the deadliest school shootings in the nation, claiming the lives of 20 children and six adults at the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

The shooting lasted approximately eleven minutes. As first responders arrived on the scene, Lanza took his own life with one of his firearms. The motive behind the massacre remains unclear. Lanza had a history of mental health issues, including Asperger’s syndrome, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. However, investigations failed to definitively link these conditions to the massacre, and his actions were widely attributed to a complex interplay of psychological factors.
