This setback proved to be particularly frustrating as it occurred shortly after he had recovered from a previous hamstring injury. The calf injury ruled him out of the World Cup in Qatar, a significant disappointment for the Portuguese international. The recovery process was lengthy, and he returned to the squad only towards the latter stages of the season.

While these injuries haven’t been the result of a dramatic, singular accident, their cumulative effect has undeniably hampered Jota’s progress at Liverpool. His impact when fit and available is undeniable; he’s a clinical finisher, a hard worker, and offers versatility across the forward line. However, the recurring nature of these muscular and joint issues has made it difficult for him to establish himself as an undisputed starter and consistently contribute to the team’s success.
