Steven Moreira

Steven Moreira is a French professional footballer who currently plays as a right-back for Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer (MLS). Known for his energetic style, versatility, and defensive prowess, Moreira has become a key player for both club and, at times, country.

Born in Noisy-le-Grand, France, Moreira began his youth career at US Torcy before joining the prestigious academy of FC Lorient. He progressed through their youth ranks, eventually making his professional debut for Lorient in Ligue 1, the top tier of French football, in 2013. During his time at Lorient, he showcased his ability to play in multiple defensive positions, demonstrating tactical awareness and a willingness to contribute wherever needed. His consistent performances earned him recognition as a promising young talent.

In 2016, Moreira moved to Stade Rennais, another Ligue 1 club. He continued to develop his skills and gain valuable experience playing at a high level. While at Rennes, he became a regular member of the squad, contributing to their defensive solidity and demonstrating his attacking capabilities with occasional forays forward. He also experienced European football with Rennes, participating in the UEFA Europa League, further broadening his experience and exposure to different styles of play.

Moreira’s journey took him across the Atlantic in 2021 when he signed with Columbus Crew in MLS. He holds dual nationality (French and Cape Verdean), making him also eligible to represent Cape Verde.
